Run for a role in our annual election and help shape the future of BSides Nashville.

Meeting Schedule

  1. Fill out the Google Form before September 8th.
  2. Each candidate has 2–3 minutes to present, then a timed Q&A.
  3. We will use anonymous online polling. Results are tracked by position.
  4. We will announce results at the end. If needed, we will share a timeline.

Board Roles and Responsibilities

President
  • Leads the board and ensures compliance with state and federal nonprofit rules.
  • Sets conference direction and delegates work to the team.
  • Primary contact for outreach and community partners.
  • Oversees ticketing, refunds, and attendee questions.
  • Manages merchandise from selection to pickup.
  • Prepares agendas and runs board meetings.
Vice President
  • Covers for the President and supports operations.
  • Books the venue and handles on-site issues.
  • Coordinates AV and other technical services.
  • Arranges catering and meal logistics.
  • Plans the speaker dinner and after-party.
  • Secures sponsors and coordinates booths and communications.
  • Assists with planning and logistics.
Treasurer
  • Manages the budget and tracks spending and commitments.
  • Maintains bank accounts and reconciles transactions.
  • Prepares financial reports for board meetings.
  • Files federal and state tax returns and manages liability insurance.
  • Collects receipts and invoices and maintains records in the shared drive.
  • Monitors ticket revenue and reports to the board.
Secretary
  • Records meeting minutes and organizes them.
  • Sends required notices per the bylaws.
  • Maintains and safeguards official records.
  • Tracks filing deadlines and compliance requirements.
Community Engagement
  • Recruits, schedules, and trains volunteers.
  • Defines roles and shift plans; manages day-of check-in and changes.
  • Sends volunteer communications and updates.
  • Collects feedback to improve the volunteer program.
Program Development
  • Owns the Call for Papers (CFP) process.
  • Builds and manages the review board and blind reviews.
  • Handles all CFP communications, including accept and decline notices.
  • Builds the session schedule with backups and coordinates speakers.
